The territory where the vines grow is one of the most diversified of whole Abruzzo. Starting from the coast overlooking the Mediterranean sea, it runs up the rivers Alento and Foro, until it meets the Majella mountain, passing through the hills, the pastures and the grassy plains.
Thanks to all these natural elements, it is inevitable to create quality wines.

Vigneto Monte Sapiente (Vineyard of the Wise Mount)

An extraordinary vineyard right next to our winery. Awning system, 30 average age, and southern exposure.

Vigneto dei Mandorli (the Almond Trees Vineyard)

The Vigneto dei Mandorli, surrounded by mighty almond trees, is a vine cultivated with Montepulciano Piandimare variety and organic certified.

Vigneto Monte Sapiente (Vineyard of the Wise Mount)

The Vigneto of Monte Sapiente, which runs alongside the winery, is a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo vineyard that grows on an extrimely dry and poor soil. This is why only an awning system can guarantee an elegant and balanced fruit. The large leaves exposition protects the grape from the sunburn typical of the southern hillside.
Per questo motivo solo un sistema di allevamento a tendone poteva garantire un frutto elegante, estremamente bilanciato.
La larga esposizione fogliare protegge l’uva dalle scottature a cui il versante sud è spesso sottoposto.
This vineyard will give us satisfaction for a very long time.

Vigneto dei Mandorli (the Almond Trees Vineyard)

The Vigneto dei Mandorli is about ten years old, and it's cultivated with a spurred cordon system. It is one of the first renewal, made with our massal selection Piandimare. The production respects the organic rules and, thanks to the unique position, it has low yields and a very high quality.
E’ stato uno dei primi rinnovi, fatti con la nostra selezione massale Piandimare.
La conduzione è nel rispetto del sistema biologico, e grazie alla particolare posizione, ha rese molto basse e qualità altissima.

Vigneto delle Ginestre (the Brooms Vineyard)

The Vigneto delle Ginestre, facing the north-east, was planted with an espalier system, in order to guarantee the maximum solar exposure of the grape during the ripening. The vineyard is well protected by the surrounding forest, by the Majella winds, and it gives every year brightly-coloured grapes and intense fruity aromas.
Il vigneto è ben protetto dal bosco circostante, dai venti della Majella, e ci regala ogni anno uve dalle altissime concentrazioni di colore e dagli aromi molto intensi di frutta.

Vigna del Trabocco (the Trabocco Vineyard)

This vineyard is one of a kind. The plants benefit from the sea breeze and the salinity of the air. It is located about 5 km far from the winery and it's one of the first to be harvested at the beginning of October. It donates grapes with thick skin, rich of perfectly ripe polyphenols.
E’ posto a circa 5 km dalla cantina, ed è uno dei primi ad essere vendemmiati agli inizi di ottobre.
Ci dona uve con bucce spesse, cariche di polifenoli perfettamente maturi, e potenza.

Vigneto delle Ginestre (the Brooms Vineyard)

Sheltered by the forest in the Curci small town. Its name comes from the typical brooms that grow in this territory.

Vigna del Trabocco (the Trabocco Vineyard)

An espalier vineyard near the sea, in the Ripa Teatina town. About 20 years old, it benefits from the sea winds, and it donates healthy grapes and an extraordinary aromatic balance.

The Montepulciano d'Abruzzo

We decided to dedicate ourselves to one single grape variety, the one which represents us, our territory, and our fathers' tradition. Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is one the most renowned and typical grapes in Italy. Just like its name implies, it was born in this very land. A very late ripening together with a strong tannic structure express a great aromatic complexity. Our agronomists, from the end of September onwards, visit the vineyard every single day, in order to be sure about the perfect conditions of the grapes' ripening.
Montepulciano is a variety that takes its time. Thanks to the passion and dedication of our members we were able to maintain alive some ancient varieties. With a massal selection we created this variety and planted it in its perfect environment, where it could express at its best.

SUSTAINABILITY

At Piandimare, we never cease to innovate and research. We started five years ago to work to avoid as much as possible any environmental impact.

We first eliminated the use of any chemical herbicides. All our members have adopted the use of techniques such as the sexual confusion or the partial removal of chemical substances that attack directly the plant's lymph.

Some of our vineyards are already cultivated with the SQNPI system, and some others are indeed organic certified. With such an extent it's not always easy to have total control, but we keep working hard every day, in order to convert all our hectares to an organic certified production. We strongly believe this is an essential goal, not only for making our own activity more sustainable, but also for giving even more balance to our vineyards, which will improve further the quality of the products.
